Telephone InterconnectsOnce you've registered we'll refer suitable volunteers as soon as is practicable

Our Brokerage Service

  • The Brokerage Project's role is to help new and current volunteers to realise their potential by matching them with suitable voluntary opportunities of their choice which will help them to either enhance their existing skills, or develop new ones.
  • The Centre interviews potential volunteers to determine their areas of interest but does not vet or filter them.
  • Prospective volunteers are referred on the basis of interest. It is your responsibility as a VIO to ensure that a prospective volunteer is suitable - you can usually do this by having a simple application form and interview.

Police Checks

  • VCWF does not have the resources to carry out any police, reference or other checks on prospective volunteers prior to referral, or at any time. If such checks are necessary they should be carried out by the VIO or an umberella organisation.
  • We can however give you advice about when police checks are necessary, and how to go about applying for them.

Getting the Right Volunteers

  • VCWF can accept no liability for the consequences of a failure to ensure that a prospective volunteer is suitable, responsible and otherwise fit to volunteer in the relevant position.
  • Please see our 'good practice' guide to ensure you've taken all necessary steps to ensure that the volunteer is suiatable in the manner described above.

Follow Up

  • Occasionally we may contact an organisation to discuss whether or not a prospective volunteer is suitable for a vacancy. For example, this may be because they have disclosed a previous conviction to us which is several years old. The volunteer may have asked us to find out if the conviction will prevent them from filling a particular vacancy.
  • We'll also keep in touch once a volunteer has been placed to see how they're getting on.
  • The Centre will not offer a brokerage service where registration has been suspended or withdrawn, or has not been fully completed.
  • The Centre will not accept vacancies which are not voluntary or which are exploitative.
