Dan leaves for Down Under
It's with great sadness to reveal Dan (guitar) will sadly no longer be playing with us in the near future. He and his partner are returning to their homeland of Australia at the end of this month. He played his final official show with us at The Captains Rest, Glasgow 7th Jan 2010. The gig was recorded live, and really highlights the subtlety of some of the great wee melodic plucks he got out of that old battered spanish guitar of his. I'll not only miss his playing, but that hip flask of his, always over flowing with something to put more hairs on your chest. Typically, after knowing him a couple years, it's only in the last 6 months since The Last Battle formed that I really got to know him and spend more time with him. I'm also gutted there's not one picture of him onstage with us, twiddling away, squashed up into a darkened corner (maybe that's why). We will all play together with him one final time this coming Saturday (23rd) at his leaving party, a few tears will be shed.
Dan, All of us hope you and Josie have a wonderful life in The Blue Mountains, we hope to make it across there one day.
Dan Barnett, I salute you my old friend. Me and the guys will miss you terribly. "Aw Jesus!"
